| Hey all,
Well many of you know I been waiting and waiting and waiting for some parts to finish up the reconstruction of my quad that broke down in June when I was riding with the boys.
I finally had the last item arrive this morning and in about 30 minutes I finished up the bolt together and had it running. Engaged the transmission (which was the issue) and every went great. Worked perfect. Now I am ready to bolt all the plastic back on and shine it up. So I spend a couple hours out there and she is back looking good.
I then take off for the river to do a bit of fishing. It wasn't great guns and whole time all I could think about is wanting to get the boat cleaned up for Friday and the outing so I pack it up and head home. Wash the boat all up and vacuum it out. Pack up the cold weather gear and rain gear and cover the boat up. It's ready to go.
So then I am still feeling that calling from the freshly fixed wheeler asking me to ride it. So I do. I head down to our area and just kinda put it threw its paces. I don't get too carried away but just kinda check everything out and it seemed to work flawlessly. So hopfully that's a good thing. Here are a few pics I took of it in the some of the areas we ride before it got too dirty.

The camera doesn't get to go wheelin though so I have to take phone pics. _________________ Randy Ellison

I took took it very easy till I got them pics and both them places was the first 2 areas I hit. It looked nothing like that when I got home tonight and I still took it easy. I didn't wanna be covered in mud from head to toe the way them tires tend to make me. Felt good to get out though. I am ready for some riding. Now the trails. They need much work as the two major flash floods ravaged our trail system and I actually had a hard time finding a lot of areas to ride. Gonna need to do some changing around and cutting of timber before we can get back to the bar from home but we'll get to workin on it. _________________ Randy Ellison

It's a 2000 Yamaha Kodiak 400 Automatic 4 x 4. It been my baby since November of 1999 when I got her. Hard to believe it has been that long ago. I will put it up aginist any quad out there too cause it really is an all around machine that is not only impossible to stop but fun to ride.
I love the rack bags Ryan. I use them a ton. The big one across the back always carries my two winching straps. I like to and I never travel without them. We ride some nasty stuff. (Quicksand is real bad!) When you ride alone your just dumb if you don't have a winch and a lot of strap. I can get out around 200' from my machine if I need to to pull it out. Plus I don't have to use a lot of winch cable that way. (Ok here I go again off topic!) Winching! If you do it with your quad know how to do it right or you will ruin a winch in a hurry. Only let out enough cable as you need to get yourself out. Use straps to make up the rest of the distance to your pulling object. Your winch has the most power with the least stress on the motor when the cable is fully wrapped up. Keep that in mind!
The other bags I carry things like bug spray and coozies and gloves and anything else you may need on the trail. Tire Kit is a big one! I have a cooler bag for the front rack that will hold around 30 cans of pop in case you get thirsty. I like it on the front though. Better for keeping the nose down when climbing hills.
All I got for now! _________________ Randy Ellison

| Oh wait, one other thing. If your stuck with your machine don't use your winch unless you absolutely have to. If other riders are along and you have lots of straps just pull it out. Prolonged winching is extremely hard on them and they will overheat in a short period of time. _________________ Randy Ellison

| The quad looks in pretty good shape considering the area you ride. Glad everything worked after you got it back together. Always wanted one. But alas, no place to store it. _________________ When the fish get tough the tough get fishing! |

That's a little secret that I have figured out too! Here's what it is. Understand how far you can push your machine and don't go past it. I am pretty careful with it even though that seems almost impossible when you think that we are talking about riding an atv through a swamp. It has lots of stratches and scrapes but your driving over trees not much you can do about that.
I also wash it a lot and that does help. Mud will suck the oils out of the pastic and make it easier to break. I also treat it with a plastic conditioner to keep it flexible. Your going to hit stuff, you just try not to do it tooooo hard. _________________ Randy Ellison

No armor all on the seat! That's bad news.
That first pic is cause it is still wet.
I thought that quad in that one goose pic looked awfully familiar. _________________ Randy Ellison
