PostSubject: wisconsin trip   Fri Jan 09, 2009 3:41 pm

I was extended an invitaion for a spring trip riding up in northern Wisc. Not sure if work schedule will match up with the dates but I want to stay ahead of anyway. I've got a good pair of Scott anti for goggles but need to get a helmet. I guess somedays we will be riding over 100 miles Shocked what other riding/safety gear should I consider? I should probably get some winching stuff like straps, pulleys etc... any suggestions would be appreciated

Mike definately keep me up to date on this. Bonnie and I may very likely be up for that trip.

As for what you need on a long ride like that. You need as much stuff as you can think of and pack on your quad.

Food
Water
Tire Repair Kit
Portable Air for tires
Goggles
Helmet
I like a nice pair of riding gloves to save blisters
Warm cloths, extra cloths if you have room to pack them. You never know when you'll be wet from head to toe.
Tow straps. I like to carry around 100' or so. Lots of times when I quad gets stuck or in trouble you need to be able to pull it from a long ways away or you will be stuck too.
Cell Phone (w/waterproof carrier)
First aid kit for those tree limbs that wack you when you aren't looking. (Trust me it happens more than I care to admit!) (Not as bad with a helmet though)
Small tool kit is good although chances are with a brand new quad like yours nothing will go wrong with it. Tires would be the one thing that could go wrong and make for a long day. I like a lot of slime in my atv tires. It does work well for the small punctures and keeps you moving.

That is pretty much the basics that we take on most every ride when we are going to get a long ways from home. Gas is an issue too but with a new quad like yours it has a giant gas tank so I wouldn't worry about it. I don't carry any on the trail for mine. It holds right at 4 gallons and I have never ran it all out in a day. Close but never gone. Wink
