Hey all,

I heard about this on the news this morning. Not good. Evil or Very Mad I hate to hear about fish kills of any kind and this one would be affecting the areas of the Skunk river that I would normally fish. (Even though I have not been on it lately.)

Luckily John's fish should be north of this spill.

Quote:
NEW LONDON, Iowa - State environmental officials are investigating a fish kill near New London in southeast Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said the fish kill is believed to have been caused when a hose ruptured as a dairy operation owned by Dalarna Farms was pumping manure. The incident was reported late Saturday.

Officials said the manure flowed into a ditch and then an unnamed tributary before reaching South Big Creek.

Investigators will do an official assessment of the dead fish on Monday. They expect the total number of dead fish to reach into the thousands.

Yeah, funny thing is after it actually happens there is never any reports to actually let the public know how bad it really was. Bang Head
