well I'm sure all you motor heads have seen the footage of yesterdays crash. I know squat about racing but my brother filled me in on the restrictor plate issue. What do you guys think of the restrictor plate races? stir I see some fans were injured by flying debris. I'm sure they will be getting lawyers to sue Evil or Very Mad I think when you purchase a front row ticket at an event like this, you should be aware that something like this could happen and if you get hurt then that's too bad. what are your thoughts on this? fuel not trying to cause trouble because I know you nascar guys are a passionate group but I know the members on this site can handle a debate on this topic.

I am a born and raised race fan and have been to Talladega, and Daytona which now all are restrictor plate races. Way back when, there was no such thing as a restrictor plate. With all the technology nowadays, there is no doubt in my mind these guys would be pushing 250mph. In my opinion, that would be a recipe for disaster WAY above what it already is.
I don't watch as many races as I used to, just because the good ole' days of NASCAR are gone, IMO. But I do try to watch all restrictor plate races and the Bristol race.

I will have to admit, the last 5 laps of yesterdays race I STOOD in the living room with the hair on my neck standing on end. When Edwards and Brad K pulled out from the tail end of the lead pack and made the run to the lead, I went nutz!! The move that Brad K made on Edwards was classic NASCAR and he won that race fair and square. THAT was what FRIGGINN AWESOME!!!!! Those where the good ole days of NASCAR that I remember!
Couldn't believe Edwards took that nasty ride, got out of his car and ran to the finish line!
Here's the vid in case anyone missed it.

As for the debris entering the stands, almost every track I have been too has a sign at all entrances that basically says you are entering a dangerous area and by doing so you are accepting all risks associated.

There are very well worded warnings at every track, (I've been to several) I think there is something on the ticket too . . . . I don't think they have much of a case. nono

These tracks were built in 1950, for 1950 cars. 250mph is just gonna kill somebody faster. They need to knock down those high banks and make them use the driver and handling more, like Pocono. Driving

I did like the "Ricky Bobby" move Carl made, running across the finishline . . cheers
