Well I am on my phone right now so I'll keep it short but as of today Tony Eury Jr is out as Dale Jr's crew chief and a new brain trust is in place to turn his car around. Check out the story on nascar.com.

Man, I don't know what to think about this deal. I have always been a Earnhardt Senior fan, and rooted for Junior........but I just think that Junior mind is elsewhere anymore.
I know it may ruffle feathers, but if you look back at all of Juniors wins, all but 1 or 2 have come on the super speedways. Mickey Waltrip has won on superspeedways Shocked
I just think Junior had some HUGE shoes to fill, and I think its starting to show he may not have what it takes. If you can't win in a Hendrick car.......welll, ya.

I think you will see a turnaround now. I'm glad Eury Jr is out....FINALLY! They never should have hired him, he's the reason Dale doesn't do worth a dang. And it's no fault of his other than he's family, they're like brothers, so they fight and bicker about everything. You watch, the new crew chief will let Dale tell him what he thinks needs and how the car is handling, and then he will change what he wants to change, end of story. Dale and Tony used to fight about what they each thought needs to done to the car and screw with each others decisions.

Dale, drive the car, the crew chief will make the calls, shut up and drive!

And thats how I feel about that. Glad Hendricks made the right move.

I think it's a good move. I never really thought Eury Jr. was that great. His pit strategies have always made me scratch my head. Should be interesting to see how he ends up this season and where that takes him next year. If Dale doesn't improve in the standings after the switch a year and a half from now, he may be out at Hendrick.

Oh I think you couldn't be more right. If he don't start running up front and winning races he will be out of Hendrick in the next couple years.

I also think that Trav's idea about Jr's head not being in it hold some water. I hope this change refocuses him. If it does not he may be done Nascar racing period before to long.

I have said it before and now I will again. He will still be the richest man to ever compete in nascar and never win a dam thing. Might as well go sit on the beach and toss back a couple cold ones, and forget all about nascar. Again. JMO.

I'm a little late to the NASCAR scene, but I'm a casual fan.

In any other world, Tony wouldn't have came with him to Hendrick.

I think Hendrick knew if he could drive. He also knew he could sell.

That leaves cars and managment. I'm thinking the cars are OK.

I'm a Smoke fan. He still has my favorite quote. What do you call DEI without Dale and Jr? A museum.

I love " Smoke ", the guy is a driver, put him in anything with 4 wheels and he's a winner, plus the way he carries himself, he has a swagger and confidence, you can't help but like the guy, he reminds me a little of Dale Sr. he's not as wreckless on the track as Sr. but you don't want to cross him.

by the way, you guys should check out ESPN.com and read what Kyle Busch has to say about the situation. Like it's anything he should be worried about, but he has to put in is $.02, I think his mission in life is to be booed forever, picking on JR isn't gonna make most fans happy at the track!

LOL! I just came back to post that

    Copied from Fox Sports
    Quote:
Kyle Busch, who was replaced by Earnhardt at Hendrick Motorsports, said the Eury-Earnhardt combination hasn't been clicking since last summer.

Busch's career has skyrocketed since he went to Joe Gibbs Racing, and he didn't seem to have much empathy for Earnhardt's struggles. Busch said it's time for Earnhardt to produce and no excuses are left if he keeps struggling.

"If Junior doesn't run well, he's going to be the problem," he said. "It's never Junior. It's always the crew chief."

Eury Jr. and Earnhardt left Dale Earnhardt Inc. last season to drive for Hendrick Motorsports. Despite driving for NASCAR's top team, they had just one win in 48 races with Hendrick.

    Nice!

Fact is, Kyle can say about anything he wants. Until someone either beats him on the track or has the ballz to slam him in the wall a couple times and tell him to shut his mouth when it is over. Then I am guessing he'll just keep doing it.

The man on top will always be hated. (The ole rainbow warriors theory) Unless that man is JR of coarse. Smile

100% spot on there, Randy! No matter what kind of racing it is, the guy out front is always scrutinized. The local dirt track scenes can get down right nasty at times wussyfight

no doubt Kyle Busch can drive a racecar, no doubt whatsoever, just makes me hate him that much more!

heres another thing to ponder, who in today's NASCAR has the ballz to slam someone into the wall ( a pre meditated strike, not because they can't drive a racecar ) or drop someone in the garage area? To me the only ones that come to mind are Stewart and Harvick, Harvick may be a stretch but since he had the ballz to dance on Ricky Rudds hood after a race, he gets at least a vote. I miss the good ole days where the drivers would settle it on the track, the Jimmy Spencers, Big E's, (censored), Dale Jarrett would put you in the fence if you pushed his buttons wrong.

I got boogers and lugies more interesting than the Busch brothers.

Where's Jimmy Spencer when you need him!

Does anyone, I mean anyone on earth buy something because it's on the hood of those guys cars. If I didn't like M & M's, they be off my buying list for general principles.

You read my mind Todd, posted the Jimmy Spencer idea as I was typing my edit, good thinking, Spencer wasn't a great racecar driver, but he had a lot of the drivers respect, except the younger guys that would get the " treatment ", Kurt Busch found out the hard way.

NASCAR is missing old school racers, and letting old school racers race old school ( say that 3 times fast ). Todays NASCAR isn't exciting like it was say 10-15 years ago. Too many rules. Turn them loose and let them beat each other until there is one standing!

    Amen to all that.

I don't tune in to watch them wreck, the way fox likes to put it, BUT, if someone needs moved out the way or given a return shot. Then have at it, that's all part of the fun. If your slow and in the way, then you deserve to be moved out the way, or be smart enough to move over and stay out the fence.

    Old school racin!
