| Talking to a friend of mine that I haven't kept up with through the years. Asked him if he was still golfing. Told me he was racing. Told me to look at Randys fire on U Tube. Well, I kind of brushed it off and today, had a minute and remembered he had told me to do that. Here it is! I thought some of your might enjoy seeing this but looks like he was very very lucky!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfGLaRzov50&feature=related |

| Sure was lucky! Lap 1 isn't a good time to have a fuel fire!
Cool how it ran clear around the corner.
I know that was a big fire but I think they were a little slow in getting it out. _________________ ........Be The Jig........

I agree. Sure seems like it took a while to get everything out. I did hear about he fire. Never seen the video of it though. That was a bad one. I constantly think about it when you see late models going out for hot laps and in the corners they are throwing fuel all over the place.
Back when I was a kid we were at a race at 34 when there was a similar accident and I too thought it was cool when the accident was cleaned up and they lit the fuel leak on fire and it went most of the way down the front straight and around turn 1 & 2. Pretty cool.
Good to see he came out all right. Those kinda things are gonna happen but everyone hopes they don't.
The Macomb Speedway has recently closed its doors completely. They had spent a lot of money on widening the track and putting in all new concessions and grandstands and then they had someone get killed in an accident over there and the track just has never been the same. The racers don't come, the fans don't come and the track owner they say hasn't been the same since. Too bad really but it is a dangerous sport, no matter the level with which you do it.
Prolly why the tension is mounting in my house as now Savanna is 14 and legal to go racing at these very same tracks with a car that is proving to run pretty well. I don't know exactly what the plan is for getting her into the car but I have a feeling it isn't gonna be long. Like maybe this weekend. The other problem with this time of year is most points championships are coming to an end and the rest of the racing becomes for special events and about winning only. During this time of year racers only get 1 thing on there mind. That is getting a win and cars have been beat on all year and don't have to go much longer to last so you just tend to see a lot more wreckfests as the season starts to wind down. _________________ Randy Ellison

If you had any hair left it will be gone now! 14 year olds in race cars can do that to a guy. |
