    Hey all,

I really think this is something that every single one of us should read. I almost wonder if something like this don't have something to do with my current outboard issues. I run a ton of ethanol thru that motor in a year. Sad Scares me.

    So check it out!

    K-Pinks issues!

Saw a guy in Canada with the same problem. For something that is supposed to fix our fuel problems it sure does create a lot of other problems. scratch

So what did they do to fix the boat? scratch Just sounded like it needed a good cleaning of the fuel system.

I don't run the Ethanol blend in mine, and I use Seafoam. shrug

You are one of the lucky ones then. Many places across the country you can't find any gas at the pumps that don't at least have some form of ethanol in them. I know we still can around here too and I don't guess I'll start now.

I do not run ethanol either. I do, however, run the most expensive gas you can get. Usually 91 octane around here. I have been told it helps alot on all these no wake lakes and the gumming up of the motor. At least it did on my old carborated Mercury. Guess I am not sure about the fuel injected engine scratch .

With all respect, I thought running NO ethanol in your boat motor was fairly common knowledge? Seriously, that was not meant to come off as being a smart a$$. Smile

Not common knowledge enough. Can't say as I have ever heard anything about it. scratch Till now. Guess I have never asked anyone either.

As for my gas consumption. Well, I have kinda tried to keep track half azzed of it just week by week. I have run around 350 gallons of fuel thru my little 40hp Evinrude this open water season alone. (Granted I ran over 60gallon thru it during the Elite series tournament alone.) Take that over the 3 years I have owned the boat and I have prolly run 1000 gallons or so of ethanol thru that motor. Dat bad???? Shocked

However, if I had a big ole fancy bass boat with a gas sucking monster on it I would prolly have went thru a thousand this year alone. Sad

I have alway avoided ethanol on boat motors. Not only do it attract moisture, but the alchohol content will quickly break down rubber and plastic.

The only time I have used ethanol in a boat is when we are going to be doing a lot of running in the tuna boat and I won't have much left in it when I take it out.

My old Mud Buddy, just plain would not run with anything less than 93 octane. The higher the octane the better on that salad tosser!!!

Although mine isn't a big fancy bass boat. Just a bass boat with a 150 Optimax. You would be surprised. That motor probably uses less gas than your 40 hp. Even the bigger motors 200,225's use a lot less gas. Of course I can only speak for Mercurys. But i'm sure the etecs and yammys high performance use less also.
