    Well folks,

The water is really starting to take hold down here now.

Road closings are coming across regularly and emergency services has taken over the radio station with constant reports. I don't have all the details nailed down yet to post them.

But toolsetter if you read this and are at work. You can't come home across the birdge at Bridgeport anymore. They shut it down this moring cause water is over the roadway on both sides on the Skunk river. ;)

I know I should know where that is but not sure I do. Where is that?

I don't think so Mike, I believe he said West Point is one of the highest parts in the area.

Although with the way the weather and everything has been you never know. affraid

Here is some shots from today. We took a ride in the mud boat to check on a cabin. We dropped the boat in almost 2 miles away from where the main channel of the Cedar River normally is.

All of these shots are AT LEAST 1 mile away from the normal river channel.

And of course it couldnt go 24 hours with out more torrential down pours!! This time they threw hail into the mix!!!

Yeah like Branden said we are fine here in West Point. We do have family in danger though and we are off to help them. with heavy rains on the way. Thanks for asking though Mike. I am on my phone now or i would type more. I have seen many flooded homes already.

I made it down to the boat shop we sand bagged for the second time this year, the water has over come over make shift levee and is well into the building. Good thing he saw the forecast and moved everything they could out yesterday.

I drove by again just a little bit ago and the water is all the way around the building now. So no matter how many bags we put out front it would have been awfully tough to keep it out with the crest being as high as it is. Heck it gets into the showroom at 21.5' and the crest is, as of right now, 25'.

And to think last year at this time the river level was 7.40 foot.

WOW! If it is that high there, I hate to even think what it is going to be like downstream when the Iowa, Skunk and DesMoines all empty in!

Are they anywhere near the level of the Cedar and Iowa?

I know each additional river doesn't help, but it helps a little if they aren't flooded beyond belief. :cyclops:

It really isn't going well down here. The water is rising so fast they are not keeping up. Many have given up on trying to hold it back. I will be making a video with the pics and video I have. I am headed back down in the morning to check on the progress of some family property we are trying to save.

    Anything we can do, Randy?

I figured as much, but I guess with the levels of the local rivers we don't hear about those down your way.

It's a very widespread, long, painful, deal. You get to sit and watch your place get flooded and then slowly the water resides only to reveal the mess and damage it's done.

Thanks for the concern John. I was down there early this morning and things are still ok for now. Getting closer though and Bonnie's sisters new bar which none me us was concerned about has water not even a block away. NOT GOOD!

Doesn't sound like things are going to improve down your way anytime soon!
I have lots of sewer backup claims starting to come in. My way of trying to help the people out, I guess.
