| I mean if you really wanna talk about boring. How bout Daytona 500 qualifying? Now that is boring. Cars running 20 mph slower than they will in the race and pretty much drivers along for the ride. To me that is some boring tv. However I still had it on all day yesterday. I wasn't tuned in to it but it was on in the background. _________________ Randy Ellison

Just wondering what you think they could do to make it less boring Bob? |
They need to put a cougar in every car. |

| Well, In my Opinion, I would rather see less "long term" drafting, less "Team" racing. Go back to "No Bump Draft" zones. Most of the shoot out was 2 car groups , blasting around the track. Little passing by a single car, because it can't be done. I prefere to see bigger packs, 3 wide, where you have to drive the car. I heard one driver say he couldn't see thru the car in front of him, he just listened to his spotter and backed off when he was told to. ? ? The 500 will be different because it will be much warmer. I have read comments from several drivers that the just needed a little nose out from behind to cool thier car from 275 to 220. Because it was 40 degrees out. I predict them pooping 3 or 4 motors in the 500. I guess I prefer Bristol, Martinsville, etc, where you have to drive, rather than Hang ON ! I saw the IRL at Iowa Speedway, some of the best racing ever it was a blast. I know the open wheelers race at Oval at Michgan and Homestead. |

Yeah we went to Indy back in the day. What an awesome track! Talk about speed. I think maybe it was Roberto Gerraro or someone like that on the pole that year at 232 mph. Craziest part to me was you could tell the difference between a car going say 217 and 225. The 217 car just look visibly slow. I was just a little kid back then but I became a big fan of open wheel racing. Guys like Rick Mears, the Unser's and Andretti's and tons of great american drivers. When Indy car racing was where nascar is now. Goooood times! Open wheel fans know how to drink just like nascar fans too.
Wasn't long after that though they went through that rash of injuries and guys absolutely shattering there legs and feet in indy cars. Then they brought the speed down, beefed up the cars (just like nascar now has done) and then the split of the 2 series with the IRL and Champ car which should have never taken place and now it just has never been the same. Too bad really.
Now F1, that's just a whole nother ball game. _________________ Randy Ellison

| Well Randy, the 88 gets to start in the back now...
Not that it's a big deal there, especially with him, but it's still one more big hurdle for him to fight his way to the front. Gotta be able to find someone back there to run with. We'll see! _________________ ........Be The Jig........

| Those are some awesome pics. I was figuring they would show more about the repaving during the race but I didn't see much on it.
Congrats to Bayne for sure. Cool deal to see a kid like that pull it off, specially when the way it sounds there isn't a nicer kid around.
I do believe that Jr had the car to beat had it not been the same ole racin luck deal. First its the flat tire near the end and then while heading back to the front getting caught up in another persons wreck. The way I saw the race play out I thought it was fairly entertaining however I also though that unless you were in the first 4 packs of 2 cars you were not safe from the constant carnage behind.
The reason Trevor won and his car looked perfect at the end was the he stayed in that first 4 2 car packs all day long and just pushed and pushed and pushed till he need to win. Real good race strategy. Some of the guys that wanted to lead a lot or pull there pack out front would just as quickly get overtaken and end up shuffling to the back where the carnage was going on. _________________ Randy Ellison
