September 16th this year is my 5th wedding anniversary. We are on vacation that week and normally spend it trout fishing up in northern Iowa. This year I decided to forego that trip and surprise her with something else. Tressa is a big NASCAR fan, so what better thing to get her than these:




I have never been to a NASCAR event, but she has been to a couple. Nonetheless, she is absolutely thrilled. She couldn't believe I gave up the trout fishing for this. But hey, you only live once.

Besides, we won't leave till Friday morning. There is always M-Th to trout fish!

So Chicagoland Speedway. Here we come!! :woo_hoo:

Will be 40 years for my bride and I next June! Would love to go on a fishin trip but thinking about doing something a little different too. I will take any ideas but don't think I could talk her into a NASCAR race though I would enjoy it. For 40 years I think it is going to have to be something extra special for us. I know lots of people have done lots of different and exciting things but we usually go fishin 4 fun! Thinking about a northern lake in Canada some but maybe something completely different like a cruise to Alaska. I am open to ideas.

I have been to that race quite a few times. The first time we sat in the stands, then we camped in the infield. Had a BLAST everytime!

We had the pit pass a few times, and you can get right behind pit lane with it. Be sure to go there during a green stop pit, they are 10X faster in person than on TV.

Sounds like a great time, way to go Brian! This is our 10 year anniversary in October, we will spend it in Jamaica, can't wait to get off this diet and spend some quality time at the all inclusive resort with its multiple swim up bars!!! :drunken:

Oh and row 18 should be about perfect, any closer to the front and you are too low to see the cars come down the front stretch because of them being down inside the wall. On my first trip there I walked the front fence from when the green flag dropped til the second lap when they get up to full speed, it's a "must do" to have 43 cars scream by 190mph about 6 foot away.

And fyi, in case you didn't know, there is a walk through tunnel under turn 2 to get to the pits anytime you want.

Thanks for the info Branden! We're really looking forward to it. We wanted to go to the race in Vegas earlier this year, but couldn't make the schedule work.

I think I remember the Sprint race was rained out until Monday, did you stay up there and watch it or have to take off. Sucks if you had to miss the cup race.
