I have a tournament at BVD in July, earlier this year I checked the cabins at the park, booked for efvery weekend in July...this was back in January sometime. Oh well...

Anything else in that area have cabins or even a campsite area for a tent? Never been to the lake or Sigourney, so I am clueless.

Belva Deer Inn would likely be your best bet. I am sure you can get a room there.

You could likely get a camp site too but I am not a big fan of camping in July after a lot of hot days on the water.

I like me some AC to relax and recharge the batteries for the next day. Not just on the boat either. ;)

There are campsites on the lake too. We paved the road through the park last year, they are paving the south ramp this year, along with the camping loop that we stayed at for Corey's outing. We are working on plans to pave the upper camp loop right now, not sure if it is for construction this year or next. The north loop has the best campsites IMO, nice big shade trees.

The south ramp road and that campground loop was paved last fall. The project they are doing this year is actually the south campground road loop starting after Labor Day. Pretty much all of the south side of BVD will be concrete after this fall.

Holey Cow...there are two Engineers on this site. We should have all the roads to lakes paved with superelevated curves, huge cul-de-sacs for our boats/trailers to turn around and a sewer system that really works. Heck, you guys design them and I'll stake them. I'm sure somebody else here would build them.

Back on topic...thier camping facilities are top notch right now but I think cowboy makes a good point about July camping...yuck!

That's funny Ken! You should have seen the guy here trying to run a turning template around the camp loop with a camper pulling a boat! They never could get a curve to work, they even had somebody go up to the campground and pull a 5th wheel camper around to see if it could make it. I think they eventually had to widen a curve to make it work. Should be real nice when its done. Thanks for the info Mark, I never got up there this winter, so I couldn't remember what was done and what was left to be done.

Actually not an engineer Ken. Trying to get my LS. I was the one who staked the county road from 92 to the park and the project through the park as well as surveyed last years project. County is doing the staking themselves now. It's too bad they didn't pave all of the ramp area though. My understanding is they just paved the two portions of the roads down to the bottoms of the hills but have yet to get out there to see it.

OK, I stand corrected. But now...

Holey Cow, two Surveyors on this site. Everything should measure up on here now. Better not try to fool us with those phoney over-estimated measurement on fish...WE will know the truth. If we ever have some sort of camp outing, you can bet that the campsites will all be squared up and of equal size.

    Hoser...one question...can you throw a chain?

    Possible answers:
    a. yes
    b. no
    c. what's a chain
    d. yes, but only if it fits the tire

    Sorry...kind of an inside joke.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. The use of a chain is slowly fading from the survey world anyway. Heck, a few years ago a three man crew was the norm...now it's one guys and a robotic. Well, that's progress I suppose.

    Have a good day...Ken

Throwing a chain was part of our final exam to pass survey class back in the day. Bet they don't do that anymore (20 years ago).

Yea, I hear ya. Way back when I went to Tech College, that's the only way it was...throwing a chain was just part of the job. Then when I got my first job outa college, I was introduced to a chain reel...wow, I thought I was in heaven. Some of the new guys I work with now don't even know what a cut chain is and most have never seen a chain...on a reel or not.

Oh well, I guess I better for peg my level and get the GPS out to finish that Topo.
